Main activities for 10 days of capital’s millennial anniversary

Nhan Dan- The 1000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi will take place over 10 days, from October 1 to 10 with various cultural, arts and sports activities.

The specific content of programs is as follows:

October 1

8:00: The Grand Opening Ceremony starts at Ly Thai To Flower Garden.

9:30: A series of art and music performances on five stages around Hoan Kiem Lake.

14:00: Exhibition of art and literary works opens at the Vietnam Cultural and Arts Exhibition Centre, No. 2, Hoa Lu street, Hai Ba Trung district.

15:00: Hanoi Photo Exhibition opens at 45 Trang Tien street, Hoan Kiem district.

19:30: An exhibition on Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements and Thang Long- Hanoi opens at the Vietnam Exhibition Fair Centre, No. 138, Giang Vo street, Ba Dinh district.

19:30: Historic and revolutionary documentary week starts at the National Cinema Centre, No. 87, Lang Ha street, Dong Da district.

20:00: Live performances and ao dai (traditional long dress) shows around Hoan Kiem Lake.

20:00: Famous pianist Dang Thai Son performs in a concert, ‘Faith in a Bright Future’ at Hanoi Opera House.

 October 2

8:00: Opening of an exhibition of historical artifacts from Thang Long Citadel, 9 Hoang Dieu and 19 Nguyen Tri Phuong, Ba Dinh district.

9:00: Opening of the bookcase: Thang Long 1000 Years of Culture at the National Library, No 31, Trang Thi street, Hoan Kiem district.

14:00: Announcing the results of the scientific research project about Hanoi at Hanoi Opera House.

20:00: Music performances at Ba Kieu Temple in front of Hoan Kiem Lake.

20:00: Opening of the International Tourism Festival of Thang Long - Hanoi at Bao Son Paradise Theme Park, Hoai Duc district. 

October 3

7:00: Start of Hanoi Moi newspaper’s ‘Running for Peace Tournament’ Hoan Kiem Lake.

20:00: A performance of ‘Arts from the Ho Chi Minh Era’ at Hang Day Stadium, Ba Dinh district.

 October 4

8:30: Closing ceremony of the ‘Thang Long – Hanoi: 1000 years of Culture and Heroism’ contest at Hanoi Opera House.

15:00: Opening of the exhibition ‘Vietnam National Heroes and Celebrities’ at Vietnam Museum of the Revolution, No 25, Tong Dan street, Hoan Kiem district.

15:30: Opening of the exhibition ‘Famous Battles and Campaigns in Vietnam’s Military History at No 28A, Dien Bien Phu Street, Ba Dinh district.

17:00: Opening of the calligraphy festival at Van Mieu (Temple of Literature), Ba Dinh district.

20:00: National Journalism Awards celebrating 1000-years of Thang Long - Hanoi at Au Co Arts Centre, No 8, Huynh Thuc Khang street, Ba Dinh district.

20:00: Performance of ancient and traditional dances at Ly Thai To Flower Garden by Hoan Kiem Lake.

 October 5

9:00: Official opening of the ‘Ceramic Road’ along the Red River on Yen Phu street, Ba Dinh district.

14:00: Opening of the exhibition ‘Modern and Traditional Ceramics Craft’ in Bat Trang ceramic village, Gia Lam district.

14:00: Opening of the exhibition ‘Hearts to Thang Long – Hanoi’ at the Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace on Tran Hung Dao street.

20:00: Performance of music by famous artists at Hanoi Opera House.

20:00: Special music programme ‘Thang Long Strong Impetus- Songs in Praise of the Country’ at Hang Day Stadium.

8:00: Opening of a Kite Festival at My Dinh national stadium.

8:00: Performance of traditional martial arts at Quan Ngua sports arenas, Ba Dinh district.

8:30: Inauguration of the Hanoi Museum, Pham Hung street, Tu Liem district.

14:00: Inauguration of statues of President Ho Chi Minh and President Ton Duc Thang at Thong Nhat Park.

14:00: Inauguration of Hoa Binh Park at Xuan Dinh village, Tu Liem district.

14:00: Opening of ‘Hanoi in the Old Times’ exhibition at Hanoi Museum, Pham Hung street, Tu Liem district.

14:30: Inauguration of Kim Dong Theatre, No 19, Hang Bai street, Hoan Kiem.

20:00: Inauguration of Hanoi Workers Theatre, No 42, Trang Tien street, Hoan Kiem.

20:00: A show titled ‘Thang Long- the Mountains and Rivers’ Sacred Soul’ with the appearance of 1,000 heroes, heroines and heroic mothers at the National Convention Centre, Tu Liem district’s Pham Hung street.

20:00: Street festival of capital and national youth at State Bank Square, No 49, Ly Thai To Street, Hoan Kiem district.

 October 9

8:00 am: Inauguration of Thanh Tri Bridge and Vinh Tuy Bridge.

9:30: Inauguration of Thang Long Avenue at the intersection of Pham Hung - Tran Duy Hung streets.

20:00: Performance by international art groups on outdoor stages in the city.

October 10

8:00: A sacred ceremony and parade in celebration of 1000 years of Thang Long - Hanoi at Ba Dinh Square.

20:00: Art performances to welcome 1000 years of Thang Long- Hanoi at My Dinh National Stadium and performances on open air stages all around town.
